People are often very dependable; they repeat themselves, just like history does. A Progressive Blogisariat long accustomed to fraudulent and faked public pronouncements from Bu$hCo hardly batted an electronic eyelid at the “teleconference” Mr Bush had this week with soldiers of the 42d Division in Iraq. I mean, when you stage a series of “town hall meetings” across the country to hype stealing peoples’ social security money – their retirement guarantees – their futures and pack the meetings with Party faithful who would cheer and clap as he sacrificed an 8 week old baby to Baal, you don’t blanch in shock when he speaks with some bobble heads in camouflage.
And so it went. A suddenly inept White House got caught feeding prepared answers to the soldiers. It was videotaped somehow, and the feed got sent out from Iraq. AP caught it, and distributed it.
Beautiful, as Jimmy Breslin would say. The guy sets up another press display and gets caught at it. But this time the press talks about it.
Nice writeup about it in the Village Voice.
As was pointed out in the article, the only enlisted soldier/woman on the panel of soldier judges appointed to approve Mr Bush’s outstanding performance in Iraq was a ringer. MSG Corinne Lombardo isn’t exactly a “soldier”, by which we infer she’s – you know – ass in the grass, cammoed up, M4 in hand, in Kevlar armor kicking down doors and detaining suspected insurgents. No siree, MSG Lombardo’s a writer, a flack, a propagandist.
The surprising thing isn’t that they did it, nor that they got caught at it. The shock is in the fact that our beloved fourth estate, the presstitutes, actually mentioned it. These mattressbacks in the electronic and print media have been enablers of the Bu$hCo War on America for five years now. And suddenly they’ve found the courage to speak up, and actually document the Emperor’s wardrobe.
I wonder how long it will last? Be certain that the lapdogs of the right, the PowerTools, Instabodyparts, the Malkin crazies, will push back immediately. A White House divided between the House of Bush and the House of Cheney is busy retaining lawyers and opening new bank accounts offshore. While Karl Rove might once have made a few phone calls, savagely excoriated some media barons, and kicked the curs back into obedient line, he’s a bit preoccupied these days. So it’s left to the second stringers to play defence.

I know several information warriors who insist there is a firewall between information operations and public affairs. I tell them they're delusional.
So it’s left to the second stringers to play defence.
And they are doing a spectacularly bad job of it.
