Serendipitous Coincidences

Serendipity : the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for (Merriam Webster Dictionary)

Coincidence: the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but seem to have some connection; also : any of these occurrences (Merriam Webster Dictionary)

Dec 2: 10 Marines killed in ambush bomb attack.
Dec 3: Dec 3: Top al_Quaida leader killed

Nov 19: 9 US soldiers die.
Nov 20: al_Zarqawi believed killed in gun battle.

Nov 16: 8 US soldiers die
Nov 16: US military announces capture of key al_Quaida operative

Nov 2: 7 US soldiers killed
Nov 3: Top al-Quaida leader believed captured

Sep 28: 7 US soldiers die
Sep 28: Al-Quaida leader killed, says Pakistan

Humans are strange creatures. It appears that we’ve been enabled with the power of creative thought. We’re able to observe, remember, conjecture, and take random events and seek connections.

We tend to look for patterns. We see repetition and realize what it is. Sometimes it's random chance and sometimes it all part of a greater plan.

It’s not known for sure whether other animals on this planet have the same abilities, but it may just be that they’re incapable of expressing themselves in a manner understood by us. That leads to the illogical conclusion that they’re “dumb.”

But I ran across these amazing coincidences. Since my dog, Ashton, can’t read English he wouldn’t have any opinion on these things. But he’s a clever little boy and I expect that if he could read English, and talk to me he’d say, “How many more clues do you idiotic apes need?”

Many thanks to the Old Fashioned Patriot, who keep a better tab on these things than I do.

Good work! More lies from the lying liars.

The following chart is too complicated for Preznit George "Custer" Bush--and he may even like the idea of lots-a-dyin' cuz he's a "war preznit", but it's worth seeing, taking into consideration that it's numerically already out-of-date: The Iraq Index (from The Nation).

Reminds me of the casualty figures (body counts) from Vietnam. Of course the American people will feel better about losing some of ours if Chimp & Co can show we got one of theirs in return, so to speak.

True, Fixer, but as you undoubtedly remember, back in that late unpleasantness, we weren't capturing the commander of the 275th NVA Division every other week. Back then it was also pretty safe to be the Chief Commissar of the Binh Phuoc province.

As CENTCOM and the MSM church organ reliably remind us, the a-Q equivalents of those positions are very dangerous occupations now.

I just wanted to post a quick comment. A woman I work with buried her uncle (mother's brother) over the weekend. He was a Marine in Vietnam, went over when he was 21 or 22. Died at 56. She said he had the full military send off. He never spoke of his experience with any family member, except to say he hadn't slept in 30 years since his return home, and that he could always smell Vietnam, no matter where he was.

My co-worker said that she is happy that her uncle is at peace now.

Goddam, do I hate Bush and Cheney.
