In an entry I posted yesterday I briefly pondered the question about just what bribe the Fascists offered Senator Byrd to get him to support the seating of ScAlito on SCOTUS. I mean, the guy's been a Senator since right after Jesus Christ was promoted to Lance Corporal. He's made his millions. I briefly toyed with the idea that perhaps they threatened his grandchildren, but decided not to mention it yesterday - discretion and valor, and all that. But I truly don't understand why a man who has created his own legend as "conscience of the Senate" would bend over and spread 'em for this pack of criminals.

This is the Senator who allegedly carries around a copy of the Constitution is his pocket. I dunno, maybe he was wearing the grey suit yesterday and left the Constitution in his blue suit when it went to the cleaners. Maybe they really DID make some kind of threat. Who knows?

But I do know that you go to war with the Constitution and the Congress that you have. And you do the best you can, and maybe get yourself a new Congress after the war starts.

This is now a war for America. Hopefully there will be no shooting. But make no mistake about it, the folks in power intend to STAY in power until cometime around 2450. The concept of bipartisan governing is dead. The Democrats in Congress have surrendered, preferring to keep their comfy cushy seats at the table rather than fight to once again be a major force in American politics.

Once the Fascists have a firm majority of ideologues on SCOTUS they will have finally achieved a waypoint goal. In the next 20 years we will see everything that defined American Democracy destroyed, twisted, perverted into something very much approximating 1984.

Update to Anthropology Lesson: Thanks to Jo Fish who provided the correct first name for Senator Byrd. It is Robert, not Richard, as I wrote in the preceeding post. I had Senator Byrd confused with Admiral Richard Byrd, who, unlike Senator Byrd, was a REAL patriot. I regret the error.

Jesus Christ was promoted to Lance Corporal

It pissed me off when that happened, too. I had more time in grade than that little ear-banger!

Senator Byrd, for some reason, says he trusts Li'l Scalito the Bushbot. Maybe no-one told him about Li'l Scalito's lack of respect for safety regulations.

Ah Nina... the guy IS 88, after all. I just hope when I'm 88 I show better sense. The position of US Senator is a powerfully seductive one. People figuratively bow and scrape; doors are always open for you; and you become a millionaire fairly quickly. You get lots of face time on TV and radio - whenever you want it, whenever your ego needs a shot of adrenalin, the media will happily oblige.

Pretty soon you're like Joe Biden. You think the universe revolves around you. That's self-delusion. Joe Biden is a wholly owned subsidiary of International Banking Amagamated, LLC. He's their errand boy. Now, that may not be all a result of his concupiscence and greed. It's one of the facts of life for politicians from Delaware. That's where Big Corporations set up shop, especially if they see a downside in incorporating overseas in the Cayman Islands, where they can avoid paying income tax. (See Bechtel; Halliburton, etc for examples.)

But Biden is a specially odious example of public stupidity and self delusion. He really truly believes he can be President in 2008.

The problem, of course, is two-fold. He's betting the public will have had a bellyful of Republican Presidency after 8 years of Bu$hCo. He's also betting Mr Bush is going to leave the Oval Office in January 2009.

Neither is correct. It doesn't matter WHAT the public thinks, since the RNC controls so many vote counting machines. (See Florida, 2000, 2002, 2004 and Ohio, 2004 for examples.)

And, to return to a favorite theme of mine, Mr Bush has no intentions of leaving the Oval Office in 2009. He likes being a "War President" waaaaay too much, and in fact, he's a pretty damned good front man for the "Forces of Evil" who want to drag America back to the 11th century. No matter how much the douchebag screws up there is still 35% of the sheeple who think he'd be a hell of a great guest at a Saturday afternoon barbeque. Pop a couple of cold ones, kick back, and shoot the shit for a couple of hours while the wimmins cook the hamburgers and hot dogs.

This perception qualifies anyone to be President in the US in the 21st century.

sigh
