A suicide bomber attacked a crowd of people at a military training base at Dargai in northwest Pakistan, killing 35 soldiers and injuring “dozens” more. There is speculation that the raid was reprisal for a Pakistani Army attack last month on a madrassa in Bajur, operated by a group called Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Mohammadi, or Movement for the Enforcement of Islamic Law, which has been banned for sending hundreds of fighters into Afghanistan, although according to the Times no one has yet claimed responsibility.
