"Spending more time with the family" is a terrific theme, but with his only son in college and his wife presumably around his age (57) there isn't much family to send time with.

Suppositions: 1) Wife Darby, a breast cancer survivor, has gone out of remission. 2) He’s going to work behind the scenes for either Fred Thompson or Rudy Giuliani, both terribly flawed candidates, who will need every bit of his skill to win the nomination. 3) He needs to really do some hard work in the darkness to avoid indictment.

UPDATE: Some people say there is a potential for at least one of multiple indictments coming down the road. In several of the possibilities, "executive privilege" would not be a valid escape clause.
