Art imitates life

Peter Callesen is a Danish artist who makes pictures from intricate paper cutouts.

Some of his work seems remarkably emblematic of Iraq to me.

Iraq is like being in a house on the downslope

It’s like an impossible journey

Iraq is the bear you meet when you’re out for a pleasant walk in the woods

Mr Bu$h and the neocons sent us out on the most excellent canoe ride

Without telling us about this

And so now we are stuck in Iraq
