Why do I think they’re posed?

The caption reads:

Soldiers from A Company, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, use their high-powered scopes to scan a field for the source of occasional sniper fire Sept. 25.

I can‘t endorse looking for a sniper in that position.
